Às vezes o inglês não parece fazer muito sentido, como quando dizemos that’s the very thing!, o que a princípio parece significar “isso é a muita coisa!”. Mas é claro, as aparências enganam, e as palavras nem sempre representam o que pensamos — aqui, very é simplesmente usado para enfatizar a “coisa” que se está falando.
Mas como fica a tradução, então? Bem, depende um pouco da frase. Geralmente, podemos traduzir the very thing — ou a sua variante, just the thing, — por “a melhor coisa” ou “a coisa ideal”, “a coisa certa”.
