Como você traduziria o phrasal verb stick with, que aparece quatro vezes no trecho acima? A cantora detalha os motivos de seu parceiro lhe fazer bem, então conclui que deve “permanecer com” ele.
Mas este é apenas um dos cinco sentidos de stick with, veja:

- “Apegar-se”;
- “Ficar na memória”;
- “Deixar preso a”;
- “Persistir” (stick with it).

1 – Comecemos com stick with significando “permanecer com” ou “continuar com”:
Stick with him and you’ll be all right.
Permaneça com ele e você ficará bem.
They’re going to stick with the same team as last Saturday.
Eles vão permanecer com a mesma equipe do sábado passado.
Stick with me, and we’ll do lots of interesting things.
Permaneça comigo e nós faremos muitas coisas interessantes.
Shall we stick with what we originally agreed?
Nós podemos permanecer com o que combinamos originalmente?

2 – Agora, veja stick with significando “apegar-se”:
Stick with what you know, that’s what I say.
Apegue-se ao que você sabe, é o que eu digo.
I think we’ll stick with our original plan.
Eu acho que nós nos apegaremos ao nosso plano original.
He said that he was going to stick with the traditions established by his grandfather.
Ele disse que se apegaria às tradições estabelecidas pelo seu avô.
3 – Stick with também pode ter o sentido de “ficar na memória”:
Wow, what a performance. That will stick with me for a long time.
Uau, que apresentação. Ela ficará na minha memória por muito tempo.

4 – Stick with também pode ser o sentido de “deixar preso a”, ou seja, ter de suportar algo ou alguém indesejável:
John stuck me with his talkative uncle and went off with his friends.
O John me deixou preso ao seu tio falante e saiu com os seus amigos.
The dishonest merchant stuck me with a faulty television set.
O comerciante desonesto me deixou preso a um aparelho de televisão com defeito.
They always stick us with the new interns, most of whom are barely old enough to drive themselves to work.
Eles sempre nos deixam presos aos novos estagiários, a maioria dos quais mal tem idade para ir dirigindo para o trabalho.
5 – Stick with it pode ser traduzido como “persistir”:
Once Susan takes up a hobby, she sticks with it.
Uma vez que a Susan começa um hobby, ela persiste.
