The Legend of Tarzan – “Tarzan” Official Interview (Transcrição)
1 – I think it’s difficult with someone like Margot, to not have great chemistry because she just has the most lovely, warm personality and so open and engaging, you know, so it’s… it didn’t take long to like, we really had so much fun together and hopefully the audience will feel that.
2 – My first question was, well to myself was ‘why make another version of it?”…what’s….it’s obviously an amazing story but, like, why it’s been told so many times and what’s different about this, and then I got the script and I like opened it and the first pages…
3 – …John in London drinking tea with the prime minister and he’s in a suit with a proper hairdo and I find it very polite and very sophisticated and I was like, I thought it was such an interesting take on a very famous story instead of following the origin story of him growing up in the jungle.
4 – All that is told in the movie as well but in flashbacks. But the main story, the storyline is him in London, he’s already been back for… he left the jungle behind and he’s been in London almost a decade with Jane, his wife. So it’s almost [as] if the novel and most of the adaptations are about taming the beast, this is more about releasing the beast.
5 – It was very important to, in terms of the physicality of the character, to not… I wanted to put on some weight, but I also didn’t want to get too big and it was important that… he can’t look like a body builder because he grew up in the jungle and when he moves through the jungle it has to feel like he moves like an animal. So we worked a lot on being more agile and flexible which was very difficult and Wayne had to work really hard because I’m incredibly stiff and so it was a great challenge.
6 – What an honour, to work with Sam Jackson it was incredible. Just the coolest guy in the world, so laid back, no ego, the most generous actor. It’s all about the material, the scene, the story, it’s never about him. it’s…it’s… It was… I loved working with Sam and we had a lot of fun, work on that dynamic between the two, how he kind of… he’s not impressed by Tarzan, he makes fun of him and it was a lot of fun.
7 – Well David knows exactly what he wants. But he’s also incredibly…he’s an incredible collaborator. He wants you, as an actor, to…he’s curious. So he knows the movie and he knows he’s incredibly prepared but he also encourages us to…something… if we have an idea, if we want to play around with something…he gets very excited in almost like a childlike way, which is lovely to see where he’s like ‘Oh that’s cool, try that, see where that will take you’ and…which is a dream for an actor obviously, we feel a trust from your director where you…because that makes you braver and you don’t… you won’t play it safe.
A Lenda de Tarzan – Entrevista Oficial do “Tarzan” (Tradução)
1 – Eu acho difícil não ter uma ótima química com alguém como a Margot, pois ela simplesmente tem a personalidade mais calorosa e amável e é tão aberta e cativante, sabe, então é… não demorou muito para que nós tipo, nós divertíssemos muito juntos e esperamos que o público sinta isso.
2 – Minha primeira pergunta foi, bem pra mim mesmo foi “Por que fazer outra versão disso? (do filme) O que é… esta é obviamente uma história extraordinária mas, tipo, por que ela foi contada tantas vezes e o que tem de diferente (desta vez), e então eu recebi o roteiro e tipo, o abri e as primeiras páginas…
3 – …John em Londres tomando chá com o primeiro ministro e ele está de terno com um penteado adequado e eu acho isso muito cortês e muito sofisticado e eu penso tipo, eu achei que esta foi uma perspectiva interessante de uma história muito famosa em vez de seguir a origem da história dele crescendo na Selva.
4 – Tudo isso é contado no filme também, mas em flashbacks. Mas a história principal, o enredo é ele em Londres, ele já está de volta por…ele deixou a selva para trás e eles está em Londres por quase uma década com a Jane, sua esposa. Então é quase como se o romance e a maioria de suas adaptações fossem sobre domar a fera, está é mais sobre libertar a fera.
5 – Foi muito importante, em termos de físico do personagem, não… eu queria ganhar um pouco de peso, mas eu também não queria ficar grande demais e foi importante que… ele não pode parecer um bodybuilder porque ele cresceu na selva e quando ele se move pela selva, tem que parecer que ele se move como um animal. Então nós trabalhamos muito em ser mais ágil e flexível, o que foi muito difícil e o Wayne teve que trabalhar duro porque eu sou incrivelmente duro e então isso foi um grande desafio.
6 – Que honra, trabalhar com Sam Jackson foi incrível. Simplesmente o cara mais legal do mundo, muito descontraído, sem ego, o ator mais generoso. Tudo se trata do material, da cena, da história, nunca é sobre ele. É…é… foi… eu amei trabalhar com o Sam e nós nos divertimos muito, trabalhar naquela dinâmica entre os dois, como ele meio que… ele não fica impressionado com o Tarzan, ele tira sarro dele e isso foi muito divertido.
7 – Bom, o David sabe o que quer. Mas ele também é incrivelmente… ele é um colaborador incrível. Ele quer que você seja, como ator…ele é curioso. Então ele conhece o filme e ele sabe que está incrivelmente preparado mas ele também nos encoraja a…alguma coisa… se nós tivermos uma idea, se nós quisermos brincar com algo… ele fica muito empolgado de uma maneira quase infantil, o que é belo de se ver (onde) quando ele diz “oh, isso é legal, tente isso, veja onde isso te leva” e… o que é um sonho para um ator obviamente, nós sentimos uma confiança do (seu) nosso diretor onde você… porque isso te deixa mais corajoso e você não… você não evita correr riscos.
